Don’t talk about that
I didn’t place the chains on your back
I don’t want to hear about it
I wasn’t there, don’t diminish my worth
We must forget about Hell on EARTH
Move On
Move on from what?
We traded iron chains for silver cuffs
13th amendment says that
Within the United States
Slavery and servitude was given up
Except, as punishment for convicted criminals
How many slaves do you know?
They have finally masterminded slavery,
Perfected it by including all skin tones
But people who look like me
Still are the leading commodity
Don’t talk about that
You did get to enjoy being an American
Separate but equal was our gift to you
We didn’t bother you when you had your own entrance
Had plenty of seats in the back of the bus
Or when you got your own personal water fountain
Your kids were separated from ours,
learning curriculum designed just for them
You could vote;
If you owned property,
passed a literacy test,
payed a poll tax,
and if your grandfather could vote before 1867
Now you all can vote
Move On
Move on from what?
My separate has never been equal
You got the suburbs, we got the inner city
You got the front door, we got the back
You got a seat, we gave up ours
You got your story, we got history
Don’t talk about that
It’s not my fault that you are prone to violence
If you just listen and follow instructions you will be alright
I click on my television and I see another black going to jail
What they do this time?
You wouldn’t be so angry if you simply
Move On
Move on from what?
Black people are locked up on a scale that is unprecedented
They have confused the masses making them believe that black people are more proned to commit crimes
It’s interesting because
In 2016, out of all the people arrested
69% were white
That means that out of the 8,421,481 arrested 5,858,330 were white
Yet we the threat
America guns down unarmed black men, women, and children
Hands up
Selling CD’s
Backs turned
Playing in parks
Changing flat tires
In their own homes
During church services
In front of corner stores
Coming home from the store
Jogging through a neighborhood
The agenda has been set and they are not looking to reschedule
It’s up to us to always talk about it
Never let it go or forget what has happened
We will scream, shout, kneel, fight and never give in
We will force you to confront the truth and reality
You don’t have to talk about it
Because we will
